Kansas University scholarship for women’s long distance?

As a sophmore in highschool I ran an 11 :11 two mile, a 5:02 mile, and sadly only a 2:20 800 meter (only ran it once). Do you think I could get a scholarship to KU (how much..a full ride?) Do you think I could get a full ride anywhere? If not, how much better do I have to be…(I did figure that I am the overall faster junior girl in state..long distance wise)

You are a very good runner and you are in the ballpark. However, there are 100+ girls in the country with your times. The only way to know for sure is to contact the university athletic department and talk to them.

If you have run 5:02, an obvious goal would be to break 5:00. Every second moves you up the list. 4:55 is great. 4:50 will get a lot of attention. The NCAA Div 1 Championship mile qualifying standard is 4:49.3.

Your mile time (5:02) is way better than your 2 mile (11:11) or 800m (2:20). If you can run 5:02 you should be able to run 10:45 for the two mile and 2:16 for the 800.

I am not affiliated with this site and am not endorsing it in anyway but it has some interesting information about track and field scholarships.

How do you start a scholarship fund?

What is the process? Is there certain paperwork that has to be done? I want it to be a scholarship fund for my family. We would basically award those students in our family that are about to go to college.

You meet with someone from the school to start the process. Depending on the school, this would be an administrator, someone from the judiciary or a Financial Aid Officer to begin with. Setting up a fund is a legal as well as financial matter.

You may endow funds, say for your children to go to school and stipulate that they would be the first to receive "scholarship." You would then have to set up criteria (even if it was "as the school deems") for future recipients.

You must set up a fund that lives on past the enrollment of your family members. You can’t set up a "scholarship" fund that lasts only as long as it takes the last family member to graduate and then discontinue the fund.

The fund has to be endowed, have substance and be funded into perpetuity, generally speaking.
